20 years of the Law Faculty
The Academic Senate of Palacký University in Olomouc decided to establish the Faculty of Law UP on January 23, 1991. There was actually completed the act from 1946 under which the University in Olomouc was re-establish. So in these days the Faculty of Law commemorates of its establishment. |
The Facuty of Law ewokes memories of its achievements on this occasion…
Students sit down in their desks in September, 1991. The first graduates set out into the legal world in 1996. More than two thousands students left the fakulty to date. At the present time there are 2 148 undergraduates attending four branches of study (master’s degree programme follow-up with European studies specialized in European Law, study for a master’s degrese of law and two bachelor’s degrese courses of legal study).
Since the year before last (2009) the Faculty of Law also offers (besides the awarding the title of JUDr.) the highest available degree of legal education – Ph.D. study – in the sylabus of Theoretical Legal Sciences, namely in four branches of study.
At the Faculty of Law there are 125 staff members today.
The faculty has also reached great achievements in science and further grant activities. It is the most successful law faculty in Czech Republic in numbers of acquired grant projects (according to the number of staff members) – under the conclusive numera ciphers.
…and declares the programme of celebrations…
The Faculty of Law will call the anniversary of its modern establishment to mind by at least modest celebrations. They will bear along the lines of professional and social actions: the college promenade (the ball of the faculty) will start them in March, the meeting of graduates will be held in May, what follows is the June international conference to problems of the Civil Code and the celebrations will be crowned with September discussions of young lawyers. The Almanac of the Faculty of Law will be also issued on the occasion of celebrations.
